Friends and former colleagues of Joseph Casey, retired WellOne dentist, gathered virtually on November 5, 2020 to honor Dr. Casey as the 2020 recipient of the June Rockwell Levy Public Health Service Award. The award was presented by WellOne CEO Peter Bancroft who cited Dr. Casey’s seventeen-year career as a general dentist at WellOne and the compassionate care that he provided to thousands of community residents over the years.
In further recognition of Dr. Casey’s contributions to WellOne, a plaque dedicating a dental exam room as the Joseph Casey Dental Treatment Room was unveiled.
June Rockwell Levy was a philanthropist that served as WellOne’s board president for 51 consecutive years. The Levy award is presented annually to an individual or organization that either through a specific action during a subject year or through a culmination of efforts over a number of years through legislative action, policy development, advocacy, direct patient care, leadership or through other means has had a demonstrable positive impact on advancing the cause of public health in Rhode Island. Recipients are selected by WellOne’s Board of Directors.
