TAKE A STAND TO PREVENT FALLS

September 10th, 2015

Take a Stand to Prevent Falls

This is the 2015 slogan for the National Council on Aging annual Fall Prevention Awareness Week celebrated September 23-29. Foster Department of Human Services will be participating in this campaign by hosting an open house on Tuesday, September 29 from 10AM-12PM. This event will take place at the Foster DHS office, 181 Howard Hill Road in Foster. (Located in the lower level of the Town Hall and outside if the weather is good!)

The goal is to increase awareness of fall risk factors for older adults and identify ways to reduce these risks. Well One will be partnering with DHS for this event and will be offering screenings for factors that could contribute to the risk of falls. There will be educational information, risk assessment surveys with suggestions for home modifications, free exercise DVDs and workbooks, and free nightlight distribution. Additionally, there will be a receptacle for depositing outdated and unused medications.

Are you at risk? Come test your own knowledge about Fall Prevention! Mark your calendars and plan to stop by on September 29th. For more information, contact Carol Mauro, Foster DHS at 392-9208
